The site was created in 1990 by Bouissière S.A in partnership with the town of Brassac. Bouissière S.A finished its activity in 2001.

In July 2002, the Canadian Pulp and Paper group Tembec and the 4 cooperatives created the company Tembec Brassac SAS to operate the Brassac assets left by Bouissière S.A.

In 2006, Tembec restructuring motivated the company to sell its Tembec Brassac’share to investors who created Brassac Industries S.A.S.
